About Us
Barker & Geary: A Legacy of Quality and Craftsmanship
Founded in 1945 by Harold Barker and William Geary, Barker & Geary began as a small business manufacturing and selling locally coppiced products such as farm stakes, hazel wattle hurdles, firewood, bean rods, and pea sticks.
As demand grew, the company rapidly expanded into general forestry, sawmilling, and fencing. In the 1970s, William Geary retired, and around the same time, Harold’s three sons joined the business, each developing a distinct division: transportation, forestry, and fencing and gates. Over time, the fencing and gate division became the core focus of the company, while the other divisions phased out.
With the involvement of the third generation of the Barker family, new ideas emerged, leading to the introduction of automated gates and barriers 25 years ago.
In addition to our renowned automated gate services, Barker & Geary is now one of the region’s leading fencing suppliers. We stock a vast range of domestic, agricultural, and commercial fencing, including wooden posts, wire products, concrete posts, and decorative European panels. With a large sales yard and two stockyards nearby, we are well-equipped to meet the needs of our customers.
Barker & Geary remains committed to quality, craftsmanship, and customer service, ensuring that our legacy of excellence continues for generations to come.
